Kingwood, Texas – An Overview

Kingwood City Harris County. The community of Kingwood is a well spread out area situated in Northeast Houston, Texas region of the USA. Most part of the community is located in the Harris County though a small portion lies in the Montgomery County. Call it the largest master-planned community in the Harris County and the second largest within the 10-county Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area.

Rightly called the ‘Liveable Forest’, Kingwood is more than a mere residential area. A friendly co-existence with nature, evinced by the many trees and plants, earns the community this special name. It comprises 21 villages, each in turn with a separate village association and a distinguished style. Trailwood village is Kingwood’s oldest subdivision. Most villages or ‘subdivisions’ as they are called have small parks and many swimming pools with free access to residents. Big parks like River Grove Park, Deer Ridge Park, East End Park and the Creekwood Nature Area can also be located here.

Kingwood’s strong connection with nature is reverberated by the tall pines and magnolias besides 20 other types of pleasant shade trees. Parks and many nature preserves of 500 plus acres of land play host to a range of wildlife especially Deer, Fish, Birds and many more. For all those looking for an exercise area; over 75 miles of hike and bike trails known as the ‘Greenbelt’ stretch through some nature’s marvels of gorgeous lakes and heavy woods. Walk, cycle along or engage in stretching exercises here in the trails. There also are a whopping 100 different clubs and organizations in the community. Two prominent private clubs found here are the Deerwood Club and the Kingwood Country Club that offer lush green golf courses.

That’s not all; the churches of various sects have found their niche in Kingwood. Baptist Churches of Grace Church, Kingwood First Baptist; Catholic Church like St.Martha’s Catholic Church and the Jewish Church of Temple Beth Torah beautify the environs. Schools here include those in the Humble Independent School District and the Kingwood High School to name a few. The community events held in Kingwood provide fun-filled entertainment to its residents. The Mardi Gras Parade hosted in February at Town Centre Park is the most popular of them all.
