Bryan, Texas – An Overview

Bryan City Brazos County in the U.S State of Texas. It is the county seat of Brazos County located in the heart of the Brazos Valley (Southeast Central Texas), also referred to as “Aggieland”. Site the city 92 miles north-northwest of Houston, 166 miles northeast of San Antonio and 169 miles south of Dallas. In October 2004, the city changed its motto from “A great place to live” to “The Good Life, Texas Style”.

Parks in the city offer fun and frolic to tourists. Few of them are Washington Park, Winchester Park, Allen Ridge Park, Jane Long Park Heritage Park, Astin Recreational Area and Williamson Park. Lake Bryan sited here is a big tourist attraction. Texas A&M University is the key campus here. It has successfully enrolled about 44,000 students on its 5,200-acre land. Blinn College is another good university providing educational services to about 10,000 students. Bryan High School, Jane Long Middle School, Stephen F. Austin Middle School and the Sam Rayburn Middle School are also located in the city.

Air services in Bryan are provided by Easterwood Airport for all multiple scheduled flights daily to Dallas and Houston. Airlines include the Continental Express (Continental Airlines) and American Eagle (American Airlines). Besides these, there are Coulter Field which is a general aviation facility owned by the city itself. International Airport services are provided by George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), located at about a travel of 1.5 hours to the west/southwest of Bryan in Austin. Besides this, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Bergstrom and the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) also serve the city. The Texas A&M University’s Department of Transportation Services offers public bus transportation through portions of College Station and Bryan whereas Brazos Transit District provides buses for general public transportation in College Station and Bryan.

There are numerous sport facilities offered near the city of Bryan. From Football facilities to Golf, the visitors get it all. Kyle field has a playground for football, Reed Arena for basketball; Travis Field boasts baseball amenities whereas the Aggie Soccer Complex is the place for soccer lovers. Golf can be played at both the Miramont Country Club and Traditions Golf Course at University Ranch.
