Bellville, Texas – An Overview
Bellville is the county seat of Austin in Southeast Texas, United States and is about 60 miles west of the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. Austin County is one of the oldest counties in Texas, founded in 1848 during the Republic of Texas. The original county seat was located in San Felipe. Austin County is not to be confused with the city of Austin (capital of Texas) approximately 110 miles northwest in Travis County and approximately 205 miles northeast in Nacogdoches County. Bellville is located at the intersection of State Highway 36 (Texas) and State Highway 159 (Texas) as well as FM 529, FM 1456, and FM 2429
Bellville, located about 60 miles west of Houston, is a charming, clean, well-planned city, featuring a colorful mix of various cultures. The city of Bellville has the Bellville Independent School District serving it in education. There are umpteen number of events that takes place in this city of Belville, where people enjoy and have great fun like the Great Picking and Grinning at Cochran Store in beautiful downtown Cochran, Jam at Pop's-Live music at Pop's Cafe on the Square. Whether under the stars on the front porch or inside the beautifully restored historic building, the music and ambience with local and regional musicians is outstanding. Bluegrass Concert & Jam Session at Coushatte Recreation Ranch is amazing. Jamming starts at 5 pm and the concert starts at 7 pm. There are the Senior Games at the Sens Activity Center with dominoes, cards, and others. Park is a place where children love to run and play around, and if the park is equipped with playground equipment, kids will like it even more. Few of the parks in the city are the Chesley Park, Hacienda Field, Sens Activity Center, Zieske Park, and City Park. Of these, the City Park is the largest and plays host to fairs, cook-offs, antique shows, and family gatherings throughout the year.
The Bellville city celebrates many local festivals like the Austin County Fair, Bluegrass & Gospel Music Festival, and the Fruehling Saengerfest. There are various other attractions like the Round Top that has been an attraction for the city dwellers - particularly Houstonians. Warrenton has become a Mecca for antique hunters in spring and fall. Fayetteville is halfway between Houston & Austin, and is a beautiful place of green fields, contended sheep, and few cars. All these attract the tourist’s attention. Some popularly visited churches in the city are St. Vincent De Paul Church, Allen AME Church, St John Lutheran Church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
