Waller, Texas – An Overview

The city of Waller in the state of Texas is located partly in Waller County and partly in Harris County. Waller is located about 45 miles west of Houston just down US Hwy 290.

Waller is served by the Waller Independent School District. The public school district also serves two other cities of Prairie View and Pine Island. Waller High and Waller Junior High are the high schools; Schultz is a middle school whereas Roberts Road Elementary, Jones Elementary, I.T. Holleman Elementary, and Fields Store Elementary are the elementary schools. The Waller Independent School District’s philosophy is to serve all students irrespective of their ability, environment or national origin. Students will be provided many opportunities to develop socially, physically and intellectually through quality educational services.

The Melanee Smith Memorial Library is the key library here. Children look forward to the “Story Time” Program organized by the library, and the program is a huge success. The library’s hours of operation are Tuesday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Saturdays from 9:00am until Noon. The City Park offers fun and frolic to the kids with the playground equipment like slides, gym, swings and a merry-go-round housed here. You will also find a gazebo and picnic tables in the park. During holidays a tree is decorated with Christmas lights. The Christmas parade usually ends with a visit from the Santa Claus.
